To continue a theme....

Of watching 80s action films, I saw Rambo: First Blood Part II the other day and it would seem that the construction worker theme wasn't limited to Arnie, oh no. There was Sly, right at the start hammer in hand attacking some poor rocks.

I suspect this is starting to turn slightly into an obsession. Not good.

Is 425 enough?

I'm not sure

Ahhhh

Jules has returned from her holiday to Greece and she brings Mythos.

I think Mythos must be an exception to the don't trust greeks with gifts rule.

ahhhhhhhh

All I need now is some sun.

Descending back into the 80s

It would seem I am watching more Arnold Schwarzenegger films than is perhaps normal.

Total Recall tonight - I had the game of it for my Amiga, but I can't remember anything about the game apart from the music - and what struck me was that old Arnie made a lot of Sci-fi films, and in nearly every one he starts off as a construction worker.

Just an observation

Ashes

So the pre-ashes training camp was announced today, no Vaughan, which is probably a good thing seeing as he seems to have forgotten how to play cricket, if he'd got some runs I'd have him back in, but at the moment....

Right predictions - I think it could be very close, perhaps 2-1 to England again, though according to the bookies it will be an Australia win 2-1

Sun, sun, rain, thunder and hail

Welcome to Sheffield - gloriously sunny yesterday, now we are flooded again.

twenty 20 World cup

So I went to the opening ceremony and first game of the 20/20 world cup today.

Obviously as it was England, it rained so the ceremony was cancelled and then England managed to lose to Holland.

You couldn't make it up.

The Running Man

In a piece of Sky inspired nostalgia (it happened to be on) I watched the Running Man last night - the first 18 film I saw. Now it may be that in the decade that has passed since I last watched it and perhaps I have become less squimish, but I'm not really sure why it is an 18, there's about the same level of violence as the new x-men film and that is a 12. I must be getting old.

It also doesn't seem to have an ending, the film starts, carries on, gets towards an ending and then just gives up and stops. That's the 80s for you mind, no depth :)

Bank holiday

Obviously involved walking (and some drinking, but let's ignore that) - Lady Bower and Derwent reservoirs were very nice

A tropical storm except without the heat

Well that's what it felt like last night anyway.

I got interviewed by the local paper last week about the Hadian's Wall walk, if you would like to see said small article in all its misquoted glory go to http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/Sponsor-plea-in-charity-trek.5207469.jp I hate journalists, but if it gets us some sponsorship it will have been worthwhile

I've been a bit slack

Sorry oh loyal readers for the lack of any posts exciting or otherwise recently, but I've been busy earning no money as a freelancer. When this situation changes I'll blog a bit more.

India

Jules and I have been in India for two weeks, it's mental and we are knackered. Here are just a few of the stupid number of photos we took. I might put some more up when I've had a chance to go through them all. So sometime next year then....

Last day at work

How weird is this, today is my last day at work. I won't say forever, because that would be a bit weird. Freelance life starts on Monday.

Very strange.

I think I need a giant Yorkshire Pudding....

January detox

This whole not drinking in January thing hasn't gone as well as planned, but perhaps as well as anticipated.

Bored

You know the feeling you are sat at work with absolutely nothing to do? No? Well I do, since I resigned work has been gradually drying up until we reach today. Six more to go before I leave and I now officially have nothing to do. I've even wasted all the time I can doing my own errands. Nothing left now. So that's (including the rest of today) 46.5 hours left in which I have to sit at this computer screen with nothing to do.

Any suggestions, as long as they are legal in the workplace, gratefully accepted.

Weather

Bearing in mind Paul's decision to change his blog name and my seemingly unending obsession with the rain perhaps I should change wandering wednesday? **

If you were wondering the arctic weather has been replaced by flooding. At least it is not so cold.

**not really, I still like it
